I’m now about to recommend a place we haven’t been to! The recommendation is from friends and family, hopefully we'll get there one day.
The house which is now owned by the National Trust was built around1880 by the wealthy banker Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to house his collection of treasures. It has a stunning collection of eighteenth century French furniture including pieces originally owned by the French Royal family. There are lots of other things to do too – maybe I’ll see you there. Here’s the link.
http://www.waddesdon.org.uk/index.html While you’re in Waddesdon there is a very good antiques shop. It sells mainly furniture some mirrors and lighting. The antiques I saw when I was there were of very good quality. It’s called Farrelly Antiques you’ll see it on the right hand side as you drive from Aylesbury towards the entrance to Waddesdon Manor, its next door to one of the pubs. I could not find a website for them, so here’s the address and telephone number : 68 High Street, Waddesdon. Tel 01296 658120.
